June

Introduction to FRC CAD – (Registration closed)

Dates & Times  June 15 – June 19 OR June 29 – July 3, 10:00am – 12:00pm (noon)
Class Description: Designed for students from 6th grade to 12th grade with little to no background in Computer-Aided Design, (CAD), this class will introduce participants to the basics of 3D model software using Solidworks. Computers will be provided but those wishing to bring their own laptop can do so. Please email us for information on installing software prior to the beginning of the class. Material covered will include creating extrusions, revolves, cuts, sketching, dimensioning, assemblies, and sheet metals.
Class Limit: 9 Students
Class Cost: $50.00 per student

Introduction to FRC Programming – (Registration closed)

Dates & Times: July 6 – July 10 OR July 13 – July 17, 10:00am– 12:00pm (noon)
Class Description: Designed for students from 6th grade to 12th grade with little to no background in coding, this class will introduce participants to the basics of programming using LabVIEW. Computers will be provided but those wishing to bring their own laptop can do so. Please email us for information on installing software prior to the beginning of class. Material covered will include the LabVIEW programming environment, programming structures such as while loops and for loops and case statements, variable types, mathematical operations, and debugging.
Class Limit: 9 students
Class Cost: $50.00 per student


Advanced FRC CAD – Design, Manufacturing and Testing – (Registration closed)

Dates & Times: July 27 – 31, 10:00am – 12:00pm (noon)
Class Description: Designed for those with good knowledge of Solidworks, this class provides students with opportunities to use their CAD skillset to develop designs. Students will be presented with a problem and asked to work cooperatively in groups to develop a manufacturable design. Students will be asked to design for manufacturability, ease of assembly, robustness, and usability. As in all design tasks, emphasis will be placed on iterating a design to mature it to a final form.
Class Limit: 9 students
Class Cost: $50.00 per student

Prerequisite: We ask that students enrolled in Advance CAD have completed Introduction to CAD at INNOVATE Albion. If your student has not yet completed that class but has worked with Solidworks before please contact our team prior to registration at connect@innovatealbion.org.

Advanced FRC Programming and Real-Time Hardware Controls and Sensors – (Registration closed)

Dates/Times: August 3 – 7, 10:00am – 12:00pm (noon)
Class Description: Designed for those with a good working knowledge of LabVIEW, this class provides students with hands-on experience in developing programs for a real-time control platform. In particular, this class will provide students with a 2 degree of freedom robotic arm which will allow students to explore various aspects of control theory such as PID gain tuning, motion control, velocity following, and other complex control algorithms.
Class Limit: 9 students
Class Cost: $50.00 per student

Prerequisite: We ask that students enrolled in Advance Programming have completed Introduction to Programming at INNOVATE Albion and at least be entering 8th grade due to the level of math required for success in the class. If your student has not yet completed that class but has worked with LabView before please contact our team prior to registration at connect@innovatealbion.org.
