INNOVATE Albion benefits from donations to offer more classes.
INNOVATE Albion is a teaching and training center for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), and robotics in Southwest Michigan. Its mission is to bring together students, educators, and professionals to build the next generation of skilled talent in our region.
And like any nonprofit organization, financial support is key to the organization’s success. Recently, its efforts were rewarded by another community leader.
Checks for nearly $10,000 were written by the more than 100 women members of the Albion Area Philanthropic Women (AAPW) organization to the INNOVATE Albion program.
This donation will go to purchase materials that support the upstart of two new class offerings, Girls Who Code and Kids Who Code, notes Caroline Hurteau, AAPW member and Executive Director of INNOVATE Albion. Six sessions will be offered between October and March 2022. The age range for these new classes will be 4th – 8th grade.
Hurteau continued, “INNOVATE Albion will also set aside funds for teacher stipends and student scholarships for each of the class offerings. The most exciting part about this investment from AAPW is that nearly all these materials are reusable. This ensures classes can continue to enrich students beyond March 2022 and additional outreach can be done through the Albion region.”
